Since the beginning of its activity in 1991, the FNP has provided more than PLN 1710 million to support science from its own resources and the EU structural funds. The Foundation has awarded over 12,600 scholarships, subsidies, and prizes to scientists from all fields, at all stages of their scientific careers, and has supported the establishment of over 560 new research teams. The FNP has always sought to support early-career scientists. Its flagship programmes addressed to this group include the START programme, the oldest and largest scholarship programme in Poland, in which the Foundation granted more than 3800 scholarships, providing early-career scientists with a total of over PLN 87 million. Moreover, the FNP has created a prestigious publishing series called FNP Monographs, which published over 230 books in the humanities and social sciences.
On its jubilee, in 2021 the FNP implemented the campaign “Ufajmy nauce” (Let’s trust science), for which it prepared a film on mRNA vaccines and organized a series of debates on vaccines and Covid-19 drugs with the participation of recognized scientists. The goal was to inspire sound, science-based discussion and promote verified information on socially relevant issues and challenges.
